Emma Stirling

Biography

Emma Stirling is an accredited practising dietitian (APD), Director of Scoop Nutrition Consultancy and Editor of The Scoop on Nutrition – a blog designed as a platform to promote expert dietitians and credible nutrition news from around the globe. During her early career Emma worked in Hong Kong for the BBC World News channel. Today, she utilises her media skills as media spokesperson and nutrition writer for consumer and health professional media. This includes her role as Nutrition Editor of Weight Watchers magazine and regular contributions to other titles, including Good Health and Diabetic Living magazines. She has collaborated on a number of books, including Enjoy Too, which was shortlisted for a World Cookbook Fair award for best health cookbook, as well as Let’s Eat Right for Kids by Karen Inge, winner of the 2006 Food Media Club Award for Best Nutrition Writing. Emma is a contributor to other blogs, a World Vision Blogger Ambassador and co-founder of a monthly Twitter chat called #eatkit. In 2012 she received an Award of Merit from the Dietitians’ Association of Australia for her pioneering work in social media. Emma is experienced in strategic nutrition communication programs and is a consultant, with her Scoop Nutrition team, to the food, hospitality, media and health industries. Recent Scoop Nutrition clients include Bright Young Things Event makers, Chobani, Crown Melbourne, Alliance Catering, Edelman PR and The Walt Disney Company Prior to Scoop Nutrition, Emma was a founding director of The Food Group Australia, a nutrition and health communication company based in Sydney. Emma also held the position of Manager, Food and Lifestyle at the global public relation company, Hill and Knowlton. Her clinical dietetic work includes a period at the leading paediatric hospital in the United Kingdom, Great Ormond St Hospital for Sick Children, where her interest in children’s nutrition was born.
