A "Renewal Reviewal" describes the act of pausing to check the costs associated with your annual nursing registration before paying for another year.
Instead of auto-renewing insurance and CPD memberships out of habit, doing a Renewal Reviewal involves comparing your current setup against another solution. It is a quick financial check to ensure you aren't overpaying for the essentials you need to practice.
Ausmed supports both professionals and organisations across health and care. Nurses use Ausmed to track CPD, access learning, and manage their professional requirements. Providers use Ausmed's Workforce Capability System to deliver training, ensure policy compliance, assess competencies and strengthen workforce performance.
Ausmed is for anyone working or training in health, care or community support - from nurses and care workers to disability support workers, allied health professionals, paramedics, OTs, students and graduates.
Providers across healthcare, aged care, and disability services also use Ausmed to support career growth and build a capable, confident workforce.
Continuing professional development (CPD) is the process by which health professionals maintain relevant skills and competencies throughout their professional careers. For health professionals who are currently practising, this must relate to their context of practice.
To maintain your registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), you are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) each registration year between 1 June and 31 May. These hours must be directly relevant to your specific context of practice, and the full 20-hour requirement applies regardless of whether you work full-time, part-time, or casually.
Professional Indemnity Insurance is designed to protect you against claims made by patients or clients for loss or damage due to negligent advice or services. As a nurse, PII ensures that you have the legal and financial support needed in case a claim is made against you.
PII is exclusively available to Registered Nurses (RNs) in Australia, excluding Cosmetic Nurses and Midwives. For those not eligible for PII, our Casual Membership still offers full access to CPD resources, career development tracks, and more.
