What is this article about?

Australia is a multicultural society. The 2016 Census revealed that over a quarter of the population was born overseas, and 45.5% of people have at least one overseas-born parent. Transcultural nursing seeks to provide care that acknowledges an individual’s culture, values, beliefs and practices – the crux of which is good communication between the health professional and the patient and their family. Health professionals need to deliver culturally-appropriate, culturally-sensitive care; an undertaking that is sometimes difficult due to the cultural and ethnic diversity within our society.

The information I have learnt in this resource was easy to understand, informative and educational for me as a first year student enrolled nurse. I come from a culturally diverse background myself, which makes it easier for me to understand that different cultures can have different values, habits and needs, and that communication and understanding is a key to creating respectful connection with clients/patients and their families.

There are so many different subjects on Ausmed! I thought it'd be hard to find the resources I need for complicated procedures or rarer conditions, but they've had everything I've looked for so far.
