Extra Time to Renew Without Late Fee
Date: 16 May 2025
For: All Nurses and Midwives
Great news! If you're still yet to renew your registration with Ahpra, there's now extra time – and less stress – thanks to a helpful update from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Late Fee Waived Until 15 June
To support nurses and midwives transitioning to the new Ahpra portal, the late fee for registration renewal has been waived until 15 June 2025. That means if you renew anytime between now and then, you won’t need to pay any late fees.
Even better, your registration remains valid until 30 June, so you can continue to work while you finalise your renewal.
Why the Extension?
More than 200,000 practitioners have already renewed, but Ahpra understands that some people are still setting up their new portal and may need a bit more time or support. The two-week grace period is designed to help you get sorted without the added pressure of extra costs.
Help Is Available
Ahpra is offering expanded customer service hours (8am–8pm AEST) and a comprehensive online portal help centre with:

Quick Tips:
- Renew before 15 June 2025 to avoid a late fee.
- Your registration is still valid until 30 June 2025 – you can keep working.
- Don’t leave it to the last minute. Use the portal help centre or call Ahpra for support if you need it.
